FA Cup quarter-final draw: Man City face Liverpool, Chelsea vs Port Vale and Arsenal take on Southampton

Manchester City have been drawn against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals, while Chelsea will host League One side Port Vale after they knocked out Sunderland in the fifth round.

City's Premier League title rivals Arsenal go to Southampton, currently eighth in the Championship, with Leeds United facing a trip to West Ham after the Hammers defeated Brentford on penalties on Monday evening.

The FA Cup quarter-final ties will be played on the weekend of April 4/5.

It is another favourable draw for record 14-time winners Arsenal, who have the chance to reach the FA Cup semi-finals without facing Premier League opposition.

The Gunners knocked out Mansfield and Wigan, both in League One, after beating Championship side Portsmouth in the third round.

Meanwhile, there is no let up for City, who trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by seven points with a game in hand, after they won at Newcastle in the previous round.

City, currently preparing for a Champions League last-16 tie against Real Madrid, face the prospect of a daunting run of games in April after being drawn against Liverpool.

If successful, their Champions League quarter-final first leg will fall in between the FA Cup quarter-final and a trip to Chelsea in the Premier League with the second leg directly before City host Arsenal in a potential title decider.

Port Vale were the giantkillers of the fifth round, eliminating Premier League side Sunderland in a 1-0 win, and have been rewarded with an even tougher game - a trip to Club World Cup champions Chelsea.

Vale, eight points adrift at the bottom of the League One table, are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, making it through to the quarter-finals for the first time since 1954.

Ties to take place across the weekend of April 4/5

Quarter-finals: Saturday/Sunday April 4/5

Semi-finals: Saturday April 25

Final: Saturday May 16
