Holdt pens new long-term Spurs deal

Tottenham winger Olivia Holdt has signed a new long-term contract at the club.

Holdt joined from Swedish side FC Rosengard in January 2025 and has since gone on to record six goals and three assists across her 17 appearances in the Women's Super League, helping Spurs to fifth in the table.

Speaking in a statement released by the club, Holdt said: Im very, very happy to be staying at the club. I feel very content every day, and Im just excited for the future.

I feel like Im in a really good place in my career, Im in a good environment where I can develop every day in training with amazing staff and teammates that help to push me.

Atletico stance on Romero transfer revealed

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Atletico Madrid are not certain to pursue Tottenhams Cristian Romero again this summer, Your Site News understands.

Your Site News has long reported on the Spanish clubs interest, with a push to sign him taking place early last summer that was not successful.

Romero stayed and signed a new contract under former head coach Thomas Frank but there are again doubts about his future as Spurs near the end of one of their worst seasons on record.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone said recently he is a big fan of Romero amid their clash in the Champions League last-16, which resulted in Atletico knocking Spurs out.

But sources in Spain have told Your Site News that not everyone involved in making decisions at Atletico is sold on the Argentina World Cup winner.

There are also several factors such as his price, Spurs Premier League status, and any determination on the part of the player to join them that will be important to any move Atletico decide to make.

Sources in Spain believe Atletico would be reluctant to go beyond 26m (30m) for the defender despite his contract still running until 2029.

Romero Tottenhams captain - said recently he is focused on trying to keep his side in the Premier League, with seven games to go.

"I have a lot of respect and affection for the club, Romero said. I want to finish the season in the best way possible.

We'll see later (about my future) but the most important thing now is to recover energy."

Romero is almost certain to attract interest from other big clubs if Atletico do ultimately decide to look elsewhere for a new centre-back.

Salah's first words after Liverpool move with Your Site - and Carra's special mention!

Multiple Saudi clubs want Salah this summer

Latest from Your Site News' chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol:

Multiple Saudi Arabian clubs want to sign Mohamed Salah this summer when he leaves Liverpool as a free agent.

However, it will not solely be down to the clubs what happens if Salah does decide to move to the Gulf State.

The Saudi Pro League and The Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund who majority-own the big four clubs, will also have a big say.

As Salah is such a high-profile player, and the greatest Arab player of all time, the Saudi Ministry of Sport will also be involved in any decision to sign Salah.

A case could be made for the fact that Saudi football needs an icon to replace Cristiano Ronaldo who will be 42 and out of contract in the summer of 2027.

Nothing has been decided about Salahs future long-term but there have been long-standing contacts with Saudi officials as his future at Liverpool has been uncertain for at least three years.

There will be lots of interest from clubs outside Saudi as well. Salah will be 34 in May, but he will be available on a free transfer.

Nobody will be able to offer him as much money as the Saudis, but if he still wants to play at the highest level, he will have other options as well.

When it looked likely that he was not going to be offered a new Liverpool contract in 2024 and 2025, intermediaries are believed to have held exploratory talks about the possibility of Salah moving to other clubs such as Chelsea as a free agent.

Al Ittihad made a verbal offer worth 150 million which was turned down by Liverpool in the summer of 2023.

Al Ittihad are the Saudi club who, on paper, need Salah most at the moment. They lost Karim Benzema and do not have a star player like the Egyptian.

What are the options for Salah in Saudi?

  • Al Ittihad: currently 6th in SPL, Salahs former teammate Fabinho is still there.
  • Al Nassr: top of SPL, trying to win Ronaldos first Saudi title, also have Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman Joao Felix.
  • Al Hilal: second in SPL, managed by Simone Inzaghi, star names Benzema, Ruben Neves and Darwin Nunez.
  • Al Ahli third in SPL, most famous players Ivan Toney and Riyad Mahrez.

Where will Salah go next?

Mohamed Salah's agent has said the Liverpool forward does not know which club he will be playing for next season.

The legendary forward will depart as a free agent in the summer after an agreement was reached with Liverpoool to cut his contract short by a year.

Responding to the news, Salah's agent Ramy Abbas Issa posted on social media: "We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows."

Salah's agent is trying to get ahead of speculation about his client's future - but that will not stop the noise.

When the forward plunged his future into doubt earlier this season during his public fall-out with Liverpool and Arne Slot, the Saudi Pro League made no secret of its desire to sign him.

Where do you think Salah will go? Let us know...
